Kimberly's Spring Fling Blogaversary Blog Hop

Welcome to Kimberly’s Blogaversary. I'm tired of winter and thought it was time for a "spring fling"!!! All Kimberly asked for was to do something that reflects birth which is what spring means to in pastel and floral colors!
There is a wonderful group of sponsors that want to have "Spring" too ..... You are asked to take the time to stop and visit each one of the sponsors.  They have graciously donated their talent for this hop.

Creative Kuts ~ $10 gift Certificate (http://www.creativekuts.com/  )

KaDoodle Bug Designs ~ $20 Gift Certificate (http://www.kadoodlebugdesigns.com/  )
Mickie Burks Osman ~ a paper pack and some stamping goodies
Lucy Kelleher ~ Close To My Heart ~ December Stamp of the Month (http://love2createitall.blogspot.com/)
Nikki Schiltz Calmes ~ Paper Piecings by Nikki ~ $25 credit to Paper Peicings by Nikki (www.paperpiecingsbyNikki.com/ )
Scraptastical Kreations ~ $20 Gift Certificate (http://scraptasticalkreations.com/  )

There are a lot of great gardeners along the path, so this hop has been extended for two days. SEW, sit back, relax and take your time browsing each garden. To be eligible for the blog candy, you must follow Kimberly’s blog.  Other bloggers may have additional requirements if they offer individual blog candy.

Kimberly can hardly believe that she has been blogging and showcasing her crafts for a year now!!! She’s grown just like spring and learned so much as she has traveled the crafting path.  I am sure you will be as impressed with the talent from these crafters as I am.

If you just happened to be visiting me today, I don't want you to miss a single spring project and want you to start at the beginning of spring at Kimberly. You should have arrived from Tiffany if you haven’t strayed from the garden path.

For my project, I have made an altered journal Tres Lynne!

Recipe:
Notebook from Dollar Store measuring 3.75 x 5.50 inches
Two (2) paper roses
One (1) butterfly cut using Cricut Sentimentals cartridge cut at 1.75 inches
Mod Podge
Pink Petticoat Wild Flowers Collection paper
Self-stick gems
Dragonfly jeweled gems

I covered both the front and back adhering the ModPodge before the paper was added and then 2 coats added on top of the paper which makes this feel almost like a vinyl. When these were dry, I added the paper to the inside following the same procedure.

Hope you enjoyed my project. I must apologize as I have additional pages to add with “friendship” verses stamped on the pages but I have been feeling under the weather for the past few weeks.

Thank you for stopping by and remember "think spring" and have that "spring fling"!!
Your next stop along the way on the garden path is Marleen. Don't forget to leave the bloggie love!!!

Rebecca's Baby Shower Blog Hop

Welcome to Lisa’s daughter, Rebecca’s, Baby Shower! What a great idea to have a baby shower between your blogging friends. This will be Lisa's first grandchild and what a special time this will be. Lisa has asked that we make a two-page layout which she will present to her daughter. Rebecca is having a boy and her son’s name will be Maxwell Thaddeus. There is a fantastick line-up to check out all of our layouts which I hope you enjoy!!!

If you have arrived here from Mickie, then you are at the right place for this baby shower. If you just happened to visit me today or happened upon my blog, I don’t want you to miss a single present for the baby shower and would want you to begin at the very beginning which is the proud soon-to-be-Grandma, Lisa

Recipe:
Background paper Heidi Grace Designs Baby Decor Stripe
Clothesline cut at 4.25 - inches using Cricut Baby Steps cartridge
Baby Boy in bathtub cut at 4.25 - inches using Cricut Baby Steps cartridge
Ribbon from JoAnn Fabrics
Scraps for the piecing and backgrounds
Studio G Iridescent glitter

As, you know, I don't do layouts - I'm more of a card kinda gal!

But, you gotta admit, the bubbles in the bath tub and the little clothes on the clothes line are adorable and purrfect to use for a baby layout.

I cut the circles from the E2 as I thought it would go with the bath tub scene with the bubbles. I accents the bath bubbles with iridescent Studio G glitter.

I’m the last stop along the way of the hop and hope you enjoyed all the presents for Baby Maxwell Thaddeus!!! Don't forget to offer congrats to Lisa for being grandma for her first grandchild as it is a blessing indeed!!!

Thanks for stopping by and hope you enjoyed the baby shower hop today. Would love for you to leave some bloggie love!

Kari's Purplies Design Team First Project

This is my first Design Team Project for Kari’s Purplies and you can find the complete Design Team projects at http://purplefuntastickcreations.blogspot.com/Her instructions were simple – work outside our comfort zone. Now, that leaves a lot of room for design and creativity and believe it or not, it wasn’t an easy project to even determine what project to make!

Now, all little girls love paper dolls and I’m no exception to the rule! I also love the antics of doll making with eleanor peace bailey. I have a delightful pattern of her’s which is called  Exploring the Flat Doll and the Playful Use of the Figure and used this as my inspiration.

The doll that I used is Whisper – “what with marching bands, flying socks, and fairies demanding them, things reached a fever pitch and that is how Whisper came to be. She was shy at first flight although as she became
familiar with her surroundings she would giggle behind her hand. The kind of private giggle which made one feel that whatever it was you weren't a part of the loop. This could make one feel uneasy if one were inclined to be self conscious, as if the joke might be on you. Of course if you'd gotten past all that and realized you were not the center of the universe, you knew that Whisper's world was her own and the joke was between she and herself and didn't include you at all. However you looked at it the garden was a bit quieter with her in it.”

As you can see, Whisper was purrrfect for me as I am always laughing and with my “warped” sense of humor, I’m usually the only one laughing!!!

For Whisper, I printed her on cardstock and coloring her with my Prism colored pencils. She is fully jointed with brads and just had to put a purple butterfly brad on her one shoulder. Her hair is Confetti yarn that I had wrapped around a pencil, got the yarn wet, and then cooked in the microwave for about 55 seconds. I let it dry the balance of the time – springy curls! Her dress is a purple lame’ which was just hanging around my house and it just screamed that it belonged to Whisper. Her clothing was hot-glued along with her iridescent tulle wings. To finish adding bling and pizzazz, I added a little flower gem on her one check and a chandelier bling on her dress. Of course, she needed a ankle bracelet to be “styling” while flying around.  She measures approximately 15-inches tall without making her dance and fly. To complete, I punctured her head – no harm was done and she was ok through the whole procedure and not a single peep or whisper outta her – and added some fishing line to let her hang in my kitchen window!!!! Doesn’t she scream that she has major attitude!!!! My kinda fairy!!! Some of her friends will be added later to keep her company!!!!

Hope you enjoyed my very first project for Kari’s Purplies Design Team and hopefully not my last!!! Take some time and check out my fantastically creative team mates and see what creations they have made:

Birthday Card for 11-Year Old

Today I have a card that I made for an 11-year old girl birthday this week. I am sew outta the loop as to type of card, let along sentiment to put inside . . . Sew, I pulled out my trusty Cricut Rock Princess and made my card from there. Must confess that I started with the "hint" or suggestion in the front of the book but didn't think a skull with a bow on its head was appropriate - call me old or a fuddy duddy but . . .

Recipe:
ü     Black cardstock cut at 6 x 6-inches
ü     Pink  paper cut at 5 x 5 – inches
ü     Black paper cut at 4 x 4 –inches
ü     Pink paper cut at 3 x 3 –inches
ü     3 ribbons from my stash with pink and black to coordinate
ü     High-top tennis shoe cut at 2.75-inches with grey as shadow, white as next layer, black as next layer and pink for the checkered part - sounds confusing but it all worked!!!!
ü     I had started to emboss with my Cuttlebug, but with all the layers, it only got embossed on the outer edge

The jury is still out for the sentiment on the inside but hoping for the best. My buddy, Michelle Ferris suggested "Put your high-tops on and jog into your teens" which is a great sentiment. Hope you enjoyed my card for today and I’m sew glad you stopped by!!!! Please leave a remark along with what you think would be a great sentiment!!!!!

God Bless you and thank you for following along with me!

Year of the Dragon

If you missed Chinese New Year Blog Hop Day 1, please click here

Ni hao and welcome to the Chinese New Year Blog Hop!  This hop is in honor of Guan, the little boy April's family is adopting from Taiwan.  To celebrate his culture, we want to share some Chinese-inspired projects with you!

If you arrived here from April, then you are in the right place!  If you just joined us, please go back to April's blog at www.curlsandgrins.blogspot.com/ to see everyone's amazing creativity!

For my project, I created a lantern with dragon flies.

RECIPE:
Lantern was cut using Summer Lanterns from SVG Attic measuring 7.5-inches tall
Paper for lantern was from Me & My Big Ideas Speciality Card Stock with beautiful butterflies and dragonflies and some sheets have metallic accents or black flocking
Dragon flies were cut from Cricut Stamping cartridge cut at 3.5 inches glued center down with wings unattached
Paper for Dragon flies was from K & Co. Susan Winget Specialty Paper which is double-sided
Vellum for the cut-outs

And of course, I know, we don't put real candles in paper lanterns!!! This I know, but strictly for photographic purposes -- quick night-time picture and out the candle!!!!

But, you have to admit, its beautiful lit!!!!!

We have some great blog candy to offer from April Nourse and PSA Essentials.  To be eligible, you must simply comment on each blog on each day's post.  We'd love for you to become a follower of each of our blogs too.
